Looking forward to going full speed with our study, "If you want to walk on water, you've got to get out of the boat."  I hope you can join us this Sunday and through the end of November for this study.

 

Remember that Alpha Alternative's "Walk for Life" is scheduled for November 7.  If you can't walk, but still want to contribute or sponsor someone, contact Noel Robinson, or the Alpha office.

 

November is our month to work the nursery during the worship service.  Since this November has five Sundays, we may need some of you to do double (triple) duty.  Please pray about your service in this area.  I will be contacting many of you to ask you to serve.

Andrew, Please put me in your prayers.  I have to have a lumbar mylogram this Friday.  They will be putting contrast media in my spinal fluid to look at the bones and nerves.  I will be having the procedure at Centennial in Nashville.

Thanks for your participation in our study of Philemon.  I thought it was an especially good study with a lot of practical applications to our lives and how we relate to others.

 

We are now going to begin a study entitled, "If You Want to Walk on Water, You've to Get Out of the Boat," based on John Ortberg's book by the same name.  This Sunday we are going to study the text, Matthew 14:25-32, and see a very brief introductory DVD.  In subsequent weeks, we will have a DVD presentation followed by discussion.  It promises to be an interesting study.  I hope you can join us.

Prayer Request

Many of you know Lisa Pinson's father, Bill Quarles.  He has been a very faithful member of our church for many years, and over the years I would rank him at the top of the list when it comes to visiting others and caring for members of our congregation.  Although at age 97 he has slowed down some, he still is in better overall physical condition than most of the rest of us.

 

Mr. Quarles has been diagnosed with some form of cancer in his chest area.  He is scheduled for surgery Tuesday morning, October 13.  Please be in prayer for the Quarles and Pinson families regarding this matter.
