Hey Team:

I have to tell you that our time together in Sunday School this past Sunday was one of the most meaningful experiences I have had in quite some time. Based on what many of you have told me, others felt the same way. Thanks again to Leigh Ann, Sam, Kahle, Mike and Lisa for your willingness to share.

Don't forget the "Hula Hoopla" for children of all ages this Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. This event will be a lot of fun for the whole family. You won't want to miss it -- whether you have grade school children or not.

We will resume our study of David this Sunday. Hope to see you then, if not before.

Press on.

Kadie Bumpas was diagnosed with an Ependymoma brain tumor 5 years ago. This week Kadie has been completing her yearly check up. The results of Kadie's MRI came back and everything was good. She was even told out off 88 kids that was at St Jude this week, with this type of brain tumor she was doing the best. The Drs. truly think Kadie is a miracle child. Kadie now will have to go once a year until she is 18. In the years past she has been going every 3 months. She is not completely out of the woods but the chance of the tumor coming back is WAY down. Kadie is still dealing with anxiety issues and some learning problems but over all she is doing great. Kadie's healing has come by the prayers of family and friends and by the Grace of God. Please keep this family and child in prayer.

Thank you so much!

Just wanted to let eveyone know that Kadie's MRI results came back and everything is GOOD. There were 88 kids in the RT-1 protocol with Ependymoma brain tumors and out of all of them the Dr. said Kadie was doing the best. Most of them the tumor either came back or they have some sort of severe disability. The Drs. said she is truly a miracle child. Thank you all so much for praying for her. She will now be able to go once a year until she is 18. She is not completely out of the woods but the chance of the tumor coming back is WAY down. She still has some Anxiety issues and learning problems that we have to deal with but over all she is good. Going to St. Jude and seeing all of those children there that are so sick makes you realize how blessed you really are. It just makes you want to do anything to help them. I just wanted to tell everyone Thanks and tell them how much Kadie and I really appreciate all the prayers.
Love, Jill and Kadie

Andrew, Tim and I will be in Richmond this week-end visiting his son and my daughter. I do have a prayer request for a couple who are friends of Angie and Todd's. Their names are Tracey and Tyson Pardee and they have a 4-month old little boy that has been diagnosed with glaucoma. He has had one surgery already and will be having another one soon. As you know this is an incurable disease at the time and eventually a patient loses their sight completely. The baby's name is Sullivan.

Thank you so much, Marlene

SelfStudy - Easter Weekend

Hey Team:

I am REALLY excited about our Sunday School class this week. We are going to take a break from our study of David and do something a little different for Easter. You won't want to miss it!

As we prepare for the remembrance of the events leading up to His crucifixion, and the celebration of His resurrection, consider these thoughts from Chuck Swindoll:

"The benefits of the resurrection are innumerable. To list a few: Our illnesses don't seem nearly so final; Our fears fade and lose their grip; Our grief over those who have gone on is diminished; Our desire to press on in spite of the obstacles is rejuvenated; Our identity as Christians is strengthened as we stand in the lengthening shadows of saints down through the centuries, who have always answered back in an antiphonal voice: 'He is risen, indeed!'"

Hope to see you Sunday, this Easter Sunday, if not before!

Press on.

SelfStudy Weekly

Hey Team:

Sunday School -- Special thanks to Eva for doing such a great job teaching our lesson this past Sunday. I know I am very biased, but I think she is a wonderful Bible teacher and a gifted storyteller. Many of you have commented how much you enjoyed it. I think it was great for at least two reasons: (1) Eva has spent time studying the life of Abigail and is able to communicate the truths of that story in an entertaining, effective manner, and (2) It was something different from the usual routine.

Doing something different from time to time stimulates interest, increases learning, and makes what we are doing more enjoyable. As we think not only about Sunday School, but also about how we "do church" in general, let's keep this in mind.

Eggstravaganza -- Don't foget the big Easter Egg Hunt (i.e. "Eggs-travaganza") that is set for Saturday, March 22 at the church for children of all ages. We still need our class to provide more plastic eggs, with "stuff" (my suggestion would be something chocolate) to go in them.

Town Hall Forum -- Our Town Hall forum was well attended and there was much discussion about a number of issues facing our church. This interim period is a very critical time for our church as we look to the future. The decisions we make in the next several months will have a lasting impact on our church for many years to come. Let's continue to pray for wisdom, guidance and unity.

Hope to see you Sunday if not before!
Press on.

Hey Team:

We will continue our study of David this week and I am thrilled to tell you that we have a surprise that will absolutely ensure that we have a great lesson! You guessed it -- I'm not teaching. You will have to come to find out who is teaching, but I will give you this hint: I will be leading children's church (hmmm?).

I hope you will make plans to attend our church-wide Town Hall Forum this Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. It will be an opportunity for us to consider and discuss issues related to our pastor search.

Thought for the day: "With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor."
(Proverbs 11:9)

Hope to see you Sunday!

Press on.
