Prayer Request -- UPDATE on Jen Gary

Mark Gary called this morning (Wed) and asked that I share the lasted update on Jen with you so you could share it with the class. She had a colonoscopy this morning and they found that she has acute diverticulitis. For now they are now treating her with antibiotics then she will have to decide if she wants to have surgery on her colon at a later date or not.

They were relieved this morning to find out what it was. She is still at JSMC and may get to go home tonight if she is able to keep her food down. Today will be the first time she has eaten since 6pm Sunday night. Mark and the kids are doing pretty good.

They appreciate your prayers and asked that you continue to pray for her.

Andrew,
Thank you for sending the e-mail out. It has been a very difficult Christmas for the kids and I. Just giving you an update on Jen's condition. They have scheduled a colonosopy for early a.m. on Wed depending on her white blood cell count. We are praying they can treat it medication but there is a chance for surgery. The kids have had a good day so far but it is tough with mom not here. We are taking alot of gifts to the hospital this morning to have Christmas with Jen. Thank you and the class for your prayers and concern. I will call or e-mail you when I know more.

Prayer Request - Jen Gary in the Hospital

Hey Team:

Debbie Gary called this morning (as did Kim Batts) to let me know that Jen Gary is in the hospital. They have ruled out several things but still do not know what has caused pain in her side and other problems. Right now they have admitted her to the hospital and started her on intravenous antibiotics. It sounds like she will be in the hospital for at least a couple of days.

Please remember Jen, Mark and their family in you prayers. Debbie said that she has the children and will let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Press on....

Please add my uncle, Donnie McIntosh, to your prayer list. He has had a few strokes since Sunday and the family was called in yesterday. Please pray for the Lord's will in this situation and reassurance for my Dad and his brothers that the whole situation is in the Lord's hands.

He is at JSMC on the 5th floor and is being taken care of by a wonderful team of nurses and doctors. We have already seen the Lord at work through the outstanding nurses and Doctors yesterday when he took a turn for the worse.

Need for Bikes - Family in Need

Please contact me by email or phone if you can help, and I will get back with Amy..Thanks guys!

==============

Hi Randy,

The Pennyrile Child Advocacy Center has a family, a mother and her four daughters who are in need of some Christmas help. The ladies at the center say the mother is providing as best she can for the girls, she's working, even putting on roofs and siding this month at various jobs to help make ends meet. There is no dad in the picture and right now no Christmas without assistance. They tell me the family is humble and grateful for anything….maybe if we can't get new ones, with our resources we could find four used bikes to donate to them. We're talking about a size for 7-10 year olds and one with training wheels. They also need coats and jackets….sizes 7-8 for three girls and 10/12 for one girl. Derrick and I are trying to get some other things together—the center has already provided a Christmas meal for the family.

Self Study - Andrew

Hey Team!

It sounds like both Mike Stewart's mother (heart valve replacement) and Tory Pinson's father (triple by-pass) are doing well after surgeries yesterday. Please continue to remember these families in your prayers.

A few announcements:
1. Class Christmas party at our house tomorrow (Friday) beginning at 6:00 p.m.;
2. This Sunday morning is our "Christmas Gift for Christ" offering. This is an opportunity for folks to catch up on their tithe and.or to give a special offering (e.g. building fund);
3. Adult Choir Christmas musical is Sunday night at 6:00 p.m.; and
4. December 19 is a family night with food, caroling and games (you don't have to go caroling) -- it will be a lot of fun.

Lots to do. Don't let all the activity and "to do" lists rob you of the joy of the season. What matters is that Jesus Christ was born and we all have many, many reasons to give thanks.

Press on....Andrew

"Let's Say Thanks"

Do you think your school or business could send this around?
Some classrooms are sending them...Randy

=================================

Something cool that Xerox is doing ~!
If you go to this web site, http://www.letssaythanks.com/ you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services.

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! This is a great site. Please send a card. It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our guys and gals over there need to know we are behind them...

Messages from our troops:
I received a package and a postcard from a young lady named Anna and the card is said to of been made by Mrs. Caudill's Third Grade Class from Johnson Magnet School in San Diego CA. I would just like for a message to go to them that I loved the package that was sent and that I really appreciate all the support we are getting over here. Thank you.

I want to say thanks for your support of military troops. I received two cards with kind words from Nikita in California and Marisa in New Jersey. The beautiful artwork was done by Elizabeth in Silver Springs, MD and Asia in Jacksonville, NC. I am assigned to the USS Enterprise and we are at sea. Please keep us in your prayers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like to express my gratitude for the card from the Let’s Say Thanks program. I received a card with a drawing made by Rebecca, Age 11, from Hobe Sound, FL and a very nice message from Jerry and JoAnn, from Yukon, Rhode Island. It is incredibly uplifting to receive messages like this and brings a smile to our faces to know that these wonderful people took the time to do something for us. This card was in a package that included many items needed for day to use and of course, the snacks were good too! It is a big deal and we are all very appreciative for the things you all do for us while we are deployed.

Hey Andrew,

I wanted to ask for prayer for my mom. I am taking her to Centennial Medical Center in the morning for an arteriogram. If everything goes okay with that, she will have surgery Wednesday to repair a leaking valve in her heart. I would appreciate everyone keeping her and my family in their prayers.

Thanks, Mike.

Taylor Doss & Family

Hey everyone,

I don't have time to call everyone and tell you this, but I wanted to pass this information on to you so you will know what's going on. Taylor Doss's stepdad passed away early this morning from complications in a surgery he had a few weeks ago. Please keep her, Emily and the rest of the family in your prayers.

Walk HIS Way,
Jeff

Prayer - Connie Jones (Jeff''s Mom)

Hey guys,

Do me a favor and keep my mom in prayer. She went in this morning to find out why she had an irregular heartbeat and they found out she is a walking heart attack waiting to happen. Therefore they have to try and find where the blockage is in another procedure tomorrow afternoon. If the doctor doesn't like what he finds, she may have to get a pacemaker put in. This is very strange to us because she had no symptoms. Her name is Connie Jones and she is in Macon, GA. Please keep her in prayer.

Thanks,

Jeff Jones

12/19 Caroling Event

Below is an email from L.A. Stewart and others who are planning an awesome "caroling event" for our church family on 12/19. Instead of our regular Wednesday night meal, we will be serving sandwiches to those who come. Hence, the request below. Thanks, L.A. and others!
By the way, you don't have to actually go caroling to participate. We are going to have fun, food and games (literally), and in between we will dispatch several teams of carolers led by our children's choir (think about how much fun it would be to caroling with Colin Sturdivant, Tyler Wolf, Elli Buckingham, Gracie Meacham, etc.). If you want to go with one of the teams, great. If not, you can wait at fellowship hall and help prepare for their return when the games (and more food) will be in full swing.
This promises to be a fun time of fellowship. I have a feeling that if you participate you will be glad you did, and if you don't . . . well, let's not find out.
Press on.

Kim Batts recently requested assistance from our class in preparing sandwiches for the 12/19 church caroling event. After some discussion, it was determined that it would be much more simple to collect monetary donations and purchase subs from Wal-Mart. If possible, please have a little extra "pocket change" this Sunday, Dec. 9th. We'll be passing the basket in Sunday School! THANKS in advance for your support!

SelfStudy/Interim Pastor

Hey Team!

I am thrilled to tell you that the deacons unanimously voted last night to present Dr. David Gardner to the church as our interim pastor. Pursuant to our by-laws, the church will vote on this recommendation at our next business meeting on December 12.

As many of you know, Dr. Gardner is a former pastor at FBC (approx. 1977 - 1984). He is an experienced, mature pastor and one of the most gifted preachers I have ever heard. I love him and I am confident he will be a tremendous blessing to our church during this time of transition. Perhaps most importantly, he has a great love and concern for our church. He specifically mentioned this recently when we began discussing this interim position with him. There is no one else in the world that I would rather have for this position at this time.

We are continuing our study of "Sevem Words to Change Your Family" this week by studying "Blessing." I appreciate the good, candid discussion we had last Sunday regarding "Forgiveness." I pray that we would all continue to realize how important that concept is for our families, and in all of our relationships.

The countdown is on for our annual Christmas Party on December 14 at the Selfs. The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. and should be over within a reasonable period of time. Feel free to bring friends and/or prospects for our class.

See you soon.

Great News about Jerry Tackett

Thank you for your prayers for former Princeton, Northside Baptist Church pastor; Tommy Tackett (retired) and his son Jerry. Please read below.

Subject: Great News about Jerry Tackett

We have very good news to share about Jerry.

The doctors were very pleased with what they saw. They removed one Adrenal Gland, and the tumor by the Aorta. There were no other organs involved.

They think it is benign, however the pathology report will tell us for sure. They do not think Jerry will have to undergo any chemo or radiation.

We have guarded optimism for a full recovery.
We will share more information when we receive the reports.

Thanks to everyone for the phone calls, cards, and especially the prayers.
The power of prayer truly is tremendous.

Love,
Nan Tackett
