Self Study

Hey Team:

I am sending this email to you from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in Ridgecrest, NC.  We had a great (i.e. safe) trip here and the journey has been nonstop.  We have a wonderful group of kids!

I wish you could see, as I have, how much Eva, Lisa, Roscella and Mason love your children -- all of them!  They have been and continue to be great servant-leaders and are great role models for all of us.

Although I have been to and worked many camps over the years, I have to confess that I have been positively impressed with the organization and spiritual maturity of the leadership team here.  I really believe this can be a life changing experience for all of us, so please continue to pray for our group.  Our goal is that we would all come to know Him in new and more personal ways before we leave, and that we would continue to develop that relationship when we come home.

Now, for those of you who are unnecessarily worried  about your children --  RELAX (Eva says it doesn't help for me to tell you to "relax" but I thought I would try to reinforce what your husbands have been telling you)!  So far we've only had a few broken bones and we only lost two girls for a total of 10 hours.

Just kidding.  Really, I'm just kidding.  If your child has not called you, or has not called as often as you would like, that's a good thing.  We will let them call any time they want to or need to.  We have asked some of them if they wanted to call home and the typical response is something like, "no, thanks"  or "maybe tomorrow."  Trust me, they love you and they miss you, but they are doing great and having a lot of fun.  They have a whole lot to tell you, but they may not tell you everything until we get home.

S.S.

We will not be home until Sunday afternoon.  Thanks again to Andy who will once again be teaching our class this Sunday.

See you soon.

Press on.

Self Study

Hey Team:

Eva and I are back from a quick trip to Florida (the girls are still there with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.).  We missed being with you this past Sunday but were blessed to have had a great worship experience at Sarasota Baptist where one of my brothers is a member.  I'll tell you more about it if you are interested, but you should at least know this:  I didn't wear a tie!

Thanks, Andy

Special thanks to Andy for teaching our class in my absence.  Andy will be back again on June 30 when the Centrkid crew and I will be returning from Ridgecrest.

Sherry Newton's Dad

Many of you know that Sherry and others have been praying for her father's (Chuck Gresham) salvation for some time.  Well, by the grace of God, and somewhat unexpectedly, Chuck recently made a public profession of faith in Christ.  This, of course, is the greatest news of all.

Congratulation, Mike and Joelette

Mike and Joelette's daughter, Angie, is engaged.  I have met Patrick and really like him (not that Angie cares what I think).  If I were not the father of two young daughters, this would be a great place for some joke about Mike having to pay for another wedding.  But since I am, this is not.  In other words, let's put Mike on the prayer list and keep him there.

VBS/Centrikid

Two of the greatest evangelistic opportunities of the year for our church are Vacation Bible School and church camp.  Please be in prayer for these events and the children whose lives could be forever changed by the decisions they make.  If your child or one you know that is going to Centrikid has not made a profession of faith in Christ, please let me know.

Wombles/Workday

Our missionary friends from Niger, The Wombles, will be here the end of this month and will be staying in the Wells Missionary Residence.  Some of us will be meeting there this Saturday at 9:00 a.m. to clean, etc.  Please join us if you can.  It will not take long.  Also, our S.S. class will take up a special offering on Sunday to help get the place ready.

See you soon.

Press on.

SelfStudy - SS Class

Hey Team!

Hope you are well.

Gene McIntosh

As you may already know, Gene McIntosh had a stroke or perhaps several mini-strokes in recent days. Dr. Gardner reported at prayer meeting last night that Dr. Covington said Gene is doing well under the circumstances. Please pray for Gene, Sandra, Karen, Kim and their entire family. Gene is such a dedicated, faithful follower of our Lord, and a great husband, father and friend. He has been and continues to be a great example for all of us.

Women's Bible Study

After much deliberation, the Bible Study Eva is going to lead this summer will be held on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. during the month of July. While many expressed a preference to do something during the day, available childcare was apparently going to be an issue. Hopefully, this will provide an opportunity for many who are interested to attend. The study is on the book of Jonah and Eva is excited about it.

Thought for the Day

"For He Himself said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.' So we may confidently say, 'The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?'"

Press on.

God is BUSY

From: Mike Stewart <thestews2@bellsouth.net>

Subject: FW: God is BUSY

If you don't know GOD, don't make stupid remarks!!!!!!! A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU.

One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, 'God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes.' The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, 'Here I am God. I'm still waiting.' It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold.

The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, 'What the heck is the matter with you? Why did you do that?'

The Marine calmly replied, 'God was too busy today protecting America 's soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an idiot. So, He sent me.'

Prayer needed - Gene McIntosh

Hey everyone,

I just found out that Gene McIntosh (Zack & Nathan Kenady's grandfather) may have had a stroke last night and is in the hospital having some tests run.

Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

Thanks!
Jeff Jones
